According to Israel Hume, during the Fencing World Cup in Spain, a spectator removed the Israeli flag and replaced it with a Palestinian flag.
After removing the Israeli flag from among the flags of the participating countries, he trampled on the Israeli flag.
After trampling on the Israeli flag, the person shouted: “The murderers of a nation must be expelled from this competition.”
The incident has caused panic and controversial reactions on Hebrew-language social media and within the Israeli fencing team.
Yossi Harari, president of the Fencing Association, told Israel Hume: “The association emphasizes that events of this type seriously harm Israel’s ongoing activities, and it is necessary to increase the security layers for Israeli delegations abroad, which will lead to a significant increase in costs and damage to the association’s budget and the athletes’ professional activities.”
