Israeli Foreign Minister: Formation of Palestinian State Means Political Defeat of Israel.
According to Israel’s Channel 14 television, he said: “The formation of two states is not a solution but a problem, and any retreat in this regard will be a political defeat.”
He also added that Tel Aviv will not allow the creation of a Palestinian state and is considering various options to respond to international pressure.
Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had repeatedly emphasized in cabinet meetings and in front of the media that Israel would never allow the formation of an independent Palestinian state.
In recent months, Itamar Ben-Gvir, Minister of Internal Security, and Bezalel Smotrich, Minister of Finance of Netanyahu’s right-wing cabinet, have also stated in numerous speeches and interviews that any two-state plan is a “threat to the existence of Israel” and must be completely rejected.
Israeli domestic media outlets such as Ma’ariv and Yedioth Ahronoth have repeatedly reported that the far-right movement in the cabinet is putting great pressure on Netanyahu to prevent any negotiations on the path to forming a Palestinian state.
