Israeli general: Rejecting the deal would be a historic loss for us.
In a note published today in the Ma’ariv newspaper, Yitzhak Barak, one of the senior commanders of the Israeli army, considered US President Donald Trump’s plan for negotiations the best opportunity for Israel and warned that the regime would be the biggest loser in history if it refused to agree.
Pointing out that the Israeli regime has reached a point of no return in the Gaza war process and that, at the same time, the political, social and security conditions of the regime are extremely critical, he emphasized that the ball is currently in Trump’s hands and that only he can save Israel from the quagmire of the Gaza war by intensifying pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu (Israeli Prime Minister) to accept the agreement.
Barak stated in this note that Hamas’s response to Trump’s plan is actually “no” to the plan, but “yes” to negotiations, and this response shows that Hamas is strong enough and is not afraid of the decision of the Israeli army. That is why Trump’s threats, according to which the rejection of this plan will lead to the “opening of the gates of hell” and freedom of action for Netanyahu, do not deter the Gaza resistance. In addition, these threats, which are familiar and repetitive to Hamas due to the repeated use of the Minister of War, have lost their power due to the direction.
In addition, during the two years of war, Hamas has completely mastered the limited capabilities of the Israeli army and distinguishes between the unrealistic (false) statements of political and military officials and the realities on the ground. The claims of victory and promises of the collapse of Hamas are something that will never come true.
The former general of the Israeli army continued to address the untrue statements of Netanyahu, who publicly claimed that Israel had changed the face of the Middle East for the better, and said: I tell him that the opposite of these statements has happened and that the Middle East is changing against Israel at a breakneck speed. He added: “We have been fighting for two years and have not achieved any goals in Gaza, and in return we have lost hundreds of soldiers; thousands more have been injured, and some Israeli prisoners have died in Gaza.”
