PNN – An Israeli security institute announced that the continuous naval attacks by Yemen’s Ansarullah movement since the start of the war in Gaza have had significant strategic and economic effects on Israel.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Palestinian Sama News Agency, the Israel Institute for Internal Security Studies stated in its report: The duration of sea voyages from Asia to Israel has increased from 18 to 20 days to 35 to 45 days.
According to the report, sea transportation costs for some goods have increased by more than 50 percent, which has directly affected the Israeli market and Israeli consumers have clearly felt the difference in prices.
The institute added: The port of Eilat, which was always considered the “southern gateway to Israel,” has practically ceased to exist.
According to the report, shipping traffic in the port has almost completely stopped, and as a result, it has lost its economic and security importance, even though Eilat was a key point for Israel’s connection to the Indian Ocean and the Far East.
The institute added: For the first time in decades, Israel’s interests in the Red Sea are being directly threatened.
The report concludes: The threats are no longer limited to Iran, but the Houthis have become an influential field player with the ability to target ships associated with or en route to Israel.
