Israelis in the street: there is not much time left.

Israelis in the street: there is not much time left.
Last night, Thursday, February 1, at the same time as the war cabinet was holding a meeting to review the proposed prisoner exchange plan, the families of Israeli prisoners protested in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of War.

“There is not much time left”, is the slogan of hundreds of Israelis who staged a demonstration in occupied Tel Aviv and demanded the immediate signing of a prisoner exchange agreement for the release of their family members in Gaza.

The process of protests by the families of Israeli prisoners has become more intense since the 70th day of the war against Gaza, and opponents of the continuation of the war have gathered several times in Kaplan Square in the center of Tel Aviv or have demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of War.

Now that 119 days have passed since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa storm operation, the pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet has increased; Protesters chanting “immediate agreement” are pressuring the Ministry of War to stop the attacks on Gaza, which threaten the lives of their prisoners and have already killed many Israelis.

The protestors’ request for an immediate agreement

In the shadow of the continuation of negotiations between Hamas and Tel Aviv on a ceasefire agreement with the mediation of Doha, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Majid Al Ansari, emphasized that “Israel has agreed to the proposed plan for a ceasefire in Gaza and we are waiting for Hamas’s approval.”

But according to Hebrew media reports, this promising news was not enough for Israelis and Netanyahu’s provocative statements brought them back to the streets. In his last statement, he said that he would not stop the war against Gaza, nor would he be willing to release thousands of Palestinian prisoners.
