Israel’s ambassador: The suspension of arms shipments by America is very disappointing

PNN – Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations called it “very disappointing” in response to the temporary suspension of arms shipments by the United States to Israel following the regime’s ground attack on Rafah.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, announced that he does not believe that the US has suspended arms shipments to Israel, but he called Washington’s decision to stop some arms shipments “very disappointing”.

In an interview with Israel’s 12 News Channel, Erdan said: US President Joe Biden “cannot say on the one hand that our partner is aiming to destroy Hamas [in the Gaza war] and on the other hand delay the means to destroy Hamas.”

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin added on Wednesday local time that the shipment of weapons to Israel was stopped due to the Rafah operation and that we have not made a final decision on the fate of this shipment.

The head of the Pentagon continued: America has clearly said that Israel should consider civilians to carry out a military operation. The US does not want to see a major military operation in this city and the focus is on protecting civilians.

He claimed: Our current goal in the Middle East is to protect our civilians and soldiers and release the hostages. We are still against a major military operation in Rafah.

US Defense Minister, repeating Washington’s anti-Iranian claims, claimed: Iran is still a threat to the entire Middle East region. Our commitment to Israel is unwavering, and since October 7, we have sent tens of billions of dollars in aid.

Lloyd Austin added: We are committed to supporting Israel’s right to defend itself. The Israeli army should not launch an operation that does not consider the security and safety of civilians. We are reviewing some security assistance to Israel in the context of the current developments in Rafah.

On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian resistance groups launched the “Al-Aqsa Storm” operation from Gaza against the positions of the Israeli regime. On November 24, 2023, a four-day temporary ceasefire was established between Israel and Hamas, or the pause for the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel. This pause or temporary ceasefire lasted seven days and finally ended on December 10, 2023, and the Israeli regime resumed attacks on Gaza.

This operation began only hours after the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that it had accepted the ceasefire proposal of Egypt and Qatar; But the Zionist regime claimed that this proposal does not meet the essential demands of this regime.

According to Palestinian health officials, nearly 34,800 Palestinians have been martyred in Gaza so far, most of them women and children.
