Israel’s different media guidelines on the Gaza war for domestic and foreign audiences

PNN – The authorities of the Zionist regime have proposed two different media agendas for the foreign and domestic audiences regarding the progress of the Gaza war.

According to the International group of Pakistan News Network, The New York Times newspaper reported that Israeli officials, considering the wide gaps between Israelis and people in other parts of the world in terms of the way of viewing the war in Gaza, present to foreign and domestic audiences two completely different narratives of how to advance the war.

According to this report, Israeli officials are telling international news media that the army is trying to move towards a milder phase of combat operations, especially in northern Gaza, due to increasing international concerns about the amount of civilian killings in Gaza.

Nevertheless, when speaking to domestic audiences, Israeli officials try to reassure them that they remain committed to their long-term goal of destroying Hamas, even if military tactics change.

At home, Israel is trying to reassure settlers traumatized by the October 7 Hamas attack that it remains committed to its goal of ending Hamas control of Gaza, according to The New York Times.

The American newspaper claimed that the two narratives presented by the Israeli authorities are not compatible with each other. Israel needs international legitimacy to achieve its goal in Gaza, and especially to maintain the support of its main ally, the United States.

Despite this New York Times claim, analysts have previously said that Israel has not been successful in reducing Hamas’ military capabilities. In addition, this regime has not succeeded in releasing the prisoners of the October 7 operation from Gaza, which it has also announced as the target of its operation.
