PNN – Israel’s Foreign Minister expressed excitement over José Antonio Kast’s victory in Chile’s presidential election.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al Jazeera, Gideon Sa’ar, Israel’s Foreign Minister, showed his enthusiasm over José Antonio Kast’s win in the Chilean presidential race, stating, “I congratulated him.”

Sa’ar added that he emphasized to the newly elected Chilean president that his victory is significant for the country’s relations with Tel Aviv.

Official results from the second round of Chile’s presidential election showed that José Antonio Kast won with 58% of the votes.

Following the vote count, Kast defeated Janet Chara, a 51-year-old member of the Communist Party and leader of the broad left coalition. Chara acknowledged her defeat on social media, congratulated the president-elect, and wished him success.

Kast, a conservative Catholic, focused his campaign on combating crime and promised to deport approximately 340,000 illegal immigrants, mostly Venezuelans. He openly expressed support for the military dictatorship, stating that he would have voted for Pinochet if he were still alive.
