PNN – Five former heads of the Israeli Internal Security Service (Shabak), along with 31 former senior managers of the organization, sent a scathing letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, severely criticizing his continued evasion of responsibility for the failure of Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” (October 7, 2023).
According to the Palestinian Shahab News Agency, these former Israeli security officials accused Netanyahu and the ruling coalition of seeking to blame the security institutions and exonerate the political level by promoting conspiracy theories, publishing biased documents, and making false claims about the existence of “treason” before October 7.
The letter also criticizes David Zini, the current head of the Shin Bet, for his silence in the face of the “personality assassination” campaign and the slander directed at the agency’s employees, and calls on him to stand firmly against these false claims.
These protests intensified after Netanyahu, in a 55-page response to the regime’s watchdog, refused to accept personal responsibility and once again blamed the defense organizations and previous governments for the failure, a move that has led to tension and chaos in the regime’s parliamentary committee meetings.
At dawn on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian resistance led by Hamas launched a unique surprise operation by attacking Zionist settlements near Gaza, capturing dozens of Zionists while seizing Israeli army bases.
After the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, Israeli authorities launched heavy airstrikes on various areas of the strip on the same day, believing that they could destroy the resistance groups within a few days and thus take control of Gaza.
The Zionist regime has launched a devastating war against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. During this period, in addition to the martyrdom of more than 71,000 Palestinians, 70 percent of the homes and infrastructure of the Gaza Strip were severely destroyed in this war, and the pitiful siege and severe humanitarian crisis, along with unprecedented famine and hunger, threaten the lives of the residents of this region.
Despite all these crimes, the Zionist regime has admitted that after about 12 months of war, it has still not been able to achieve its goals of this war, which are to destroy the Hamas movement and return the Zionist prisoners from the Gaza Strip.
