Jerusalem Post: Israel concerned about Trump’s weak nuclear deal with Iran.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Iran and the United States will hold indirect talks in Oman on Saturday over Iran’s nuclear program, as Tel Aviv seeks to provoke Washington into directly attacking the country’s nuclear facilities.

The Jerusalem Post, citing informed sources, writes: Senior Israeli sources have warned that Donald Trump may agree to a weak or moderate deal with Iran; an agreement that could destroy Israel’s unique opportunity to attack the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

The report adds: Senior Israeli sources have expressed concern that US President Donald Trump may sign a deal with Iran that Israel considers “weak” or “moderate.” If such an agreement is signed, according to these sources, the Israeli military (IDF) may not be able to use the current opportunity to attack the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

However, some Zionist sources still hope that Trump will know behind the scenes that the agreement is not the solution to the Iranian nuclear issue and that a military strike will eventually become inevitable, or that he will be able to force Iran into a much better deal than the 2015 agreement.

Most sources believe that significant developments will occur in the nuclear file in April, although Trump’s final policy on Iran may not be clear until the summer.

Britain, France, and Germany have set a June deadline for Iran to use the “automatic reimposition of sanctions” under the JCPOA if no progress is made.

Trump has not yet made a public statement on this mechanism, but it is clear that he is interested in using sanctions as a pressure tool, since during his first term in office, most of his anti-Iranian policies focused on sanctions.
