PNN – An Australian analyst wrote that the US Treasury Secretary’s statements about creating a financial crisis in Iran are an admission of the country’s role in the unrest.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Australian analyst Caitlin Johnston wrote in response to recent statements by US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant about Iran: On Thursday, Basnet explicitly stated before the US Senate Banking Committee that Washington had deliberately caused a financial crisis in Iran with the aim of inciting civil unrest in the country.

Besant said at a meeting of the US Senate Banking Committee: We created a dollar shortage in this country, and this process quickly came to fruition.

The US Treasury Secretary, acknowledging the White House’s role in causing unrest in Iran, added: I would say the high point was in December, when one of the largest banks in Iran collapsed after a run on depositors and the central bank was forced to print money. The Iranian currency went into free fall; inflation skyrocketed, and as a result, we saw the Iranian people take to the streets.
