Joining the students of Oxford and Cambridge universities to the Palestine supporters’ movement

PNN – The students of Oxford and Cambridge universities in England set up tents on the university campus in order to express their support for the Palestinians, following the example of the students of the American universities.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Sky News website wrote: The setting up of these tents is similar to what has been seen in American universities in the last few weeks and has led to the arrest of almost 2,500 protesters.

Protests broke out outside King’s College at Cambridge University and the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford.

In a field report of these protests, the Sky News reporter wrote: The group known as the “Liberated Zone Camp” has set up tents on the ground at Oxford University. They chanted “rain or shine, we will liberate Palestine”.

Kendall Gardner, a Jewish student at the University of Oxford, told Sky News: “It has been affected by the protests that have taken place around the world.”

He added: American universities started a global chain of pro-Palestinian student activists.

This student said: We have 6 demands, the first of which is to freeze the vast financial assets of the university, which are beneficial for Israel. We will stay here until our demands are met.

The “Oxford for Palestine” organization also announced: the demands of the students include the following: Disclosure of all university assets, disposal of assets, reform of investment policy, sanction of institutional relations, abandonment of Barclays Bank (British investment company) and revival and reinvestment.

Many students across the UK have started protests against the war in Gaza, setting up protest tents in cities such as Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and Leeds.

The pro-Palestinian students in England, apart from the tents that started on Monday, have so far tried to prevent the implementation of the so-called “free days” program, during which it is possible for the public to visit the university to check the suitability of studying there for parents.

The protesters told the new arrivals and their parents that they would be “complicit in Israel’s genocide” if they applied to study at Trinity University, Cambridge.

The wave of protests in British universities has started following violent clashes in American universities, especially Columbia University in New York.

Protest groups in England have asked their universities to refrain from investing in Zionist companies because of its military crimes in Gaza.

Apart from England and America, in recent days, students in France, Ireland and Finland have also set up tents in support of Palestine and condemning the crimes of Gaza.
