Joint meeting of the Jolani government with the US and Israel to be held.

Joint meeting of the Jolani government with the US and Israel is to be held.

The Axios news site revealed that senior officials from the United States, the Israeli regime, and the government of Ahmed al-Shara (Jolani) plan to hold a trilateral meeting on Thursday to reach security understandings on the situation in southern Syria.

According to the report, Thomas Barak, the US representative for Syria, who has played a mediating role between the parties in recent weeks, will chair the meeting. High-ranking officials from Israel and Syria are expected to attend the meeting.

Sources familiar with the matter told Axios that the main focus of the meeting will be on regulating security mechanisms in southern Syria and strengthening coordination between Tel Aviv and Damascus to prevent a repeat of crises similar to what occurred in Sweida province last week.

According to the American media outlet, this will be the first direct meeting between representatives of the three parties since the start of the crisis in Sweida and the Israeli attacks on Damascus. The strikes targeted several Syrian military targets, including the army headquarters in the center of the capital and the People’s Palace in the Damascus mountains.

“There is relative calm at the moment, but without comprehensive agreements between the United States, Israel, and the Syrian government, fundamental issues will not be resolved,” a senior Israeli official told Axios.

While the location of the meeting remains unclear, previous meetings between Israel’s homeland security adviser, Tzahi Hangbi, and Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al-Shaibani were reportedly held in Baku.

Meanwhile, U.S. sources told Axios that some White House officials have expressed concern about the negative impact of the Israeli airstrikes on President Donald Trump’s efforts to bring peace to the Middle East. It is unclear whether the president himself shares this concern.

According to the report, the United States was not informed in advance of Israel’s recent airstrike on Syria, and some of Washington’s allies, including Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, were deeply angered by Tel Aviv’s move.
