Joint statement of the meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Iraq and Syria

PNN – At the end of the tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq and Syria hosted by Baghdad, a joint statement was issued.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Fawad Hossein and Bassam al-Sabbagh, foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq and Syria held a tripartite meeting in Baghdad.

At the end of this meeting, a statement was issued, the text of which is as follows:

The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic met at the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad on December 6, 2024.

In this meeting, the challenges faced by the region in general and the recent security developments in Syria were discussed and exchanged.

Respected ministers regarding the danger of what happened in Syria and its sensitivity for all parties in the region and the possibility of its expansion, which is a great danger for all three countries and threatens the security of its nations and the entire region; they agree.

The participants in the meeting condemned all types of terrorism identified by the Security Council and emphasized the collective effort to deal with it.

The ministers condemned Israel’s continuous aggression against Syria, Gaza and Lebanon.

It was also agreed on the need to continue consultation and coordination between the three countries to follow up on these developments and prepare for any developments in the coming days.

Respect for Syria’s sovereignty and its integrity and independence was emphasized.

The ministers emphasized that the threat to the security of Syria is a general danger for the region and there is no option other than coordination, cooperation and continued diplomatic consultations to keep the region away from all risks of escalation.

It was also emphasized on the need to mobilize Arab, regional and international efforts to reach peaceful solutions for the challenges that the region is facing in general and Syria in particular.
