Jolani: We are not seeking war with Israel.
According to Al Jazeera, Abu Muhammad al-Julani, in response to the Zionist regime’s attacks on Syria and without referring to his efforts to establish interactions and relations with the Israeli regime, said: “We are the inhabitants of this land, and we can defeat Israel’s moves to divide the country. Syria is not a testing ground for foreign conspiracies and the greed of others. Building a new Syria requires the unity of all of us around the homeland.”
Al-Julani emphasized, “The Druze are an essential part of Syrian society, and defending them is our priority.”
He said: “We decided to entrust the security of Sweida to some local groups and sheikhs there. We chose to protect the country between the two options of war with Israel and giving the Druze sheikhs a chance to reach an agreement.”
Ignoring his role in creating the current conditions for Syria and, of course, regardless of his interactions and relations with the Zionist regime officials, al-Julani stated: “Israel has been trying to turn Syria into a battlefield of conflict and division since the fall of the previous regime.” Syria is not a place for the greed of others, and we will restore the glory of Syria, and the interests of the country must be preferred over everything else.
He added: The Syrian government took action with all its institutions to stop the civil war in Sweida and was able to restore security. If it were not for the mediation of the United States, Turkey, and Arab countries, Israel would have failed its efforts to establish security in Sweida.
Al-Jolani emphasized, We are not afraid of war, but we prefer the interests of the nation to chaos, and our ideal option was to preserve the unity and integrity of the country. We emphasize the punishment of those who insulted and mistreated our Druze compatriots, and these compatriots are supported by the government.
