“Jolani’s trip to America; files on the table”

Al Jazeera reported on Golani’s arrival in the United States: “This visit is not limited to its ceremonial dimension, but beyond that, it is a clear declaration of the end of a long period of separation and the beginning of a new stage that returns Syria to the heart of international equations, and Golani seeks to redefine its place on the map of the Middle East.”

The media wrote: “Washington no longer sees Damascus as a security issue, but rather as a country active in shaping the future of the region.”

Al Jazeera reported: “This visit is not simply a diplomatic event, but rather reflects the re-convergence of interests between Washington and Damascus and a tacit acknowledgement that the stability of Syria has become a common interest for both sides.”

The SDF is deeply concerned

The media wrote: “This visit also carries messages for various parties in the Syrian arena.” The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which has been Washington’s most prominent field partner in the fight against ISIS for years, are among those who find themselves facing a new reality. The US sees the SDF as a part that can gradually be integrated into a broader national framework, according to emerging Syrian-American understandings.

Al Jazeera wrote: Golani understands that ending the spread of armed groups is a prerequisite for building a modern state and prefers the reintegration of local forces into state institutions to continuing the division. The signing of the agreement to join the international coalition provides a political and security umbrella that will facilitate this process without further internal conflicts.

The media outlet continued its article by mentioning the SDF’s concern about Golani’s trip to the US, which has been reflected in its stances.

Al Jazeera wrote: While confirming its readiness “for any eventuality,” the SDF reiterated that integration into Syrian government institutions must be “based on its conditions.”

Golani seeks to attract foreign capital

Al Jazeera continued by pointing out that Damascus has high hopes for the lifting of Syrian sanctions, including the Caesar Act, which has paralyzed the Syrian economy and hindered its reconstruction, and said: Economic files are on the table in Golani’s negotiations, especially since Damascus is seeking to attract foreign investment. Golani knows well that any political or security opening is not possible without achieving economic progress, and Washington plays a pivotal role in this and can link Syria to the global economic system.

Regarding the file of relations between the Zionist regime and Syria, which will be examined during this trip, and the US’s efforts to activate the ceasefire agreement between the parties and prevent any tension between Tel Aviv and Damascus, the media wrote: The regional dimension of this meeting is also significant. While Washington is opening its doors to Damascus, Israel stands in stark contrast, rejecting any action that might give Syria strength or stability.

The media outlet reported: Since the fall of the former regime, Israel has carried out dozens of attacks on sites inside Syria, assuming that the cessation of hostilities agreement signed in 1973 was nullified with the fall of the Assad regime.

Al Jazeera wrote: The trip could pave the way for a fifth round of indirect talks between Syria and Israel, aimed at reactivating the old cessation of hostilities agreement and establishing clear borders that would prevent an escalation of tensions, although the likelihood of progress remains dependent on Israeli internal calculations and US pressure.
