Jordan: Efforts to suspend the Israel Football Federation from FIFA and UEFA begin.

According to the Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad, the head of the country’s football federation, Amir Ali bin Hussein, announced on the sidelines of the ongoing West Asian Football Confederation meeting that coordinated efforts have begun to suspend the Israeli Football Federation’s membership in international football organizations.

He said: “It was agreed with the Palestinian Football Federation that official letters will be sent to FIFA and UEFA, and a meeting will be organized with these two international bodies to discuss the suspension of the Israeli Federation’s membership.”

This action was taken in the wake of the ongoing war in Gaza and widespread criticism of Israel’s presence in international sports bodies, and indicates the synergy of the positions of Arab and Islamic countries in the global sports arena.

Earlier, the organizers of the Emilia cycling race in Italy canceled the participation of the Israel Premier Tech team due to concerns about anti-Zionist protests that could disrupt the competition.

Roberta Li Calci, the sports director of the Bologna City Council, said the decision reflects a moral stance.

She added: “Given what is happening in Gaza, it would be hypocritical to allow an Israeli team to participate, and we thank the organizers for understanding the feelings of the residents of the city (of Bologna).”

According to the Palestinian news agency Ma’an, calls for Israel to be suspended from international sporting events have increased in recent days.

The Zionist regime, with the support of the United States, has launched a devastating war against the residents of the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in the death and injury of more than a thousand Palestinians, most of them women and children, in addition to the massive destruction and deadly famine.
