PNN – The European Union’s foreign policy chief said the bloc’s ability to exert pressure on China over Beijing’s stance on the Ukraine crisis is limited.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Bloomberg, Kaya Kalas, speaking at a press conference in New York, referred to the extensive economic relations between China and European countries and stated: Beijing’s response to sanctions could harm the economies of European Union member states.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun announced that Beijing wants an end to the Ukrainian crisis and will play a constructive role in promoting a political settlement. According to him, China has a consistent position on the Ukrainian issue based on the principles of fairness and impartiality.
The European Union and the United States want China to reduce its economic ties with Russia. They believe that China’s purchase of Russian energy has undermined anti-Russian sanctions. Ukraine has accused China of cooperating with Russia on arms.
