Kyiv and White House Describe Trump-Zelensky Call as “Private and Brief”
According to the New York Herald, the White House described the meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, respectively, on the sidelines of the funeral of Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s Catholics, in Rome, as very productive.
A spokesman for the Ukrainian presidential office said that Trump and Zelensky had a brief meeting before the funeral began.
Sergey Nikiforov, a spokesman for Zelensky’s office, said without providing details about the meeting: “The meeting is over.”
On the other hand, White House communications director Steven Cheung, indicating that more details about the meeting will be released, said: “Trump and Zelensky met privately today and had a very productive conversation.”
