Lavrov: We will strengthen our relations with the Islamic world.
According to TASS, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed at the opening ceremony of the Russia-Islamic World Summit, known as the Kazan Forum, that Russia, as the largest Eurasian power and a state with a large Muslim population, maintains friendly relations and commitments to the Islamic world.
“We continue to expand cooperation with Muslim countries in various fields,” the Foreign Minister said in a video message.
Lavrov noted that Russia and the countries of the Islamic world have much in common; both sides seek to create a stable multipolar world order. Respect for cultural diversity and international law, as well as the rejection of any new colonial practices, are among other commonalities between Moscow and Islamic countries.”
About 50 representatives of foreign policy agencies and experts from more than 20 OIC countries are expected to attend the event. They are scheduled to exchange views on a wide range of issues.
The 16th Kazan Forum will be held in Kazan from May 11 to 16.
According to IRNA, the forum will begin in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, and in addition to events related to the economy, the Kazan Forum will host meetings in the fields of culture, media, and tourism.
