Lebanese Interior Minister: We are working for Israel to withdraw from the south.
“NNA”, Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmed Al-Hajjar said today at the inauguration ceremony of the new Civil Defense Center in the town of Barja, located in western Lebanon: The government is committed to expanding its dominance and sovereignty over the entire country by using its forces exclusively.
He said: We are trying through various means and diplomatic means to stop the Israeli enemy’s retreat from the last inch of the beloved southern Lebanese soil, to stop the enemy’s daily aggressions, and to return the prisoners to the embrace of the homeland.
The Lebanese Interior Minister stated: The Ministry of Interior and municipalities are committed to holding parliamentary elections on their due and legal date in May 2026 (spring of next year), and the implementation of preparations for holding these elections has begun in accordance with the highest standards of transparency, impartiality, and electoral integrity. We hope that these elections will be a new turning point for a bright tomorrow.
According to IRNA, the Zionist regime began its aggression against Lebanon on October 1, 2024, and two months later, on the 7th of Azar, it signed a ceasefire with the mediation of the United States.
Accordingly, the Israeli military was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon within 60 days, but the regime, contrary to international law, kept its troops in five strategic positions in the region and did not leave. The Israeli army has violated the ceasefire agreement thousands of times since it was signed.
