Nawaf Salam, in an interview with Al Jazeera, added: We have received messages from Israel about the possibility of escalating tensions, but no specific timeframe was mentioned. The assessment of the envoys who visited Beirut is that the situation is dangerous and unstable.
The Prime Minister of Lebanon again repeated his claim about the necessity of disarming Hezbollah and said: We will not allow adventures that could lead us toward a new war.
These statements by Nawaf Salam come while the Israeli regime daily targets southern Lebanon and continues to violate the ceasefire. While these attacks continue, the Lebanese government, with US support, seeks the disarmament of the resistance.
He also referred to the appointment of Simon Karam, former Lebanese ambassador to Washington, as Lebanon’s representative in the ceasefire monitoring committee, emphasizing that including a former Lebanese diplomat in this committee is politically correct and nationally supported. Netanyahu, in describing Lebanon’s action to include a former Lebanese diplomat in the committee, overreacted.
