Lebanon files complaint against Zionist regime to Security Council after citizen kidnapped.
According to Al Jazeera, Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Saturday asked Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib to file a complaint with the Security Council regarding the kidnapping of a Lebanese citizen by elements of the Zionist regime.
According to the report, the Lebanese Prime Minister is following up on the kidnapping of Imad Amhez, a Lebanese citizen in the Batroun region, and has stressed the need to expedite the investigation process in this regard.
Ali Hamieh, Minister of Transport and Public Affairs of the Lebanese Caretaker Government, confirmed yesterday the news published about the kidnapping of a Lebanese person in the Batroun region located in the north of the country at dawn today.
Ali Hamieh told Al-Mayadeen that the kidnapped person is a civilian officer of the Lebanese Navy named Imad Amhez and was kidnapped 100 meters from his residence.
The Lebanese official stated that since the Lebanese coast is under the supervision of international forces, contact is being made with UNIFIL.
Ali Hamieh added: If it is proven that this kidnapping was carried out via a sea helicopter, the question arises as to where the implementation of Resolution 1701 will take place? The mission of UNIFIL forces is to patrol the Lebanese coast from the “Al-Naqoura” region to the “Al-Ureida” region.
It is worth mentioning that a little earlier, Lebanese security sources announced that a commando group kidnapped a Lebanese citizen from the “Batroun” region in northern Lebanon at dawn. These sources stated that this Lebanese individual was probably kidnapped by the Israeli army via a helicopter and infiltration via the sea.
