London cracks down on pro-Palestinian activists, citing anti-Semitism.
The British Prime Minister’s official spokesman told the Independent newspaper that “while freedom of expression is an important right in this country, it cannot extend to inciting hatred or harassing others.”
Starmer’s spokesman also said that the police would use their powers “more decisively” to combat the spread of anti-Semitism.
The British government had previously banned the activities of the Palestinian Action Group in the UK in July. According to this law, membership in the group is a crime and carries a prison sentence of up to 14 years. Since then, more than 2,000 people have been arrested for holding symbols supporting the group until early December.
In this regard, lawyers for the Palestine Action Group have described the ban on the group’s activities in the UK as an arbitrary move by the country.
After the Zionist regime’s genocide in Gaza and the widespread protests of freedom-loving people around the world, including the UK and the US, the governments of these countries and some other countries that support Tel Aviv are trying to prevent the expansion of the activities of Palestinian supporters in these countries by passing regulations.
In this context, hundreds of Palestinian supporters have repeatedly held demonstrations in the UK to protest the genocide in Gaza and the repeated violations of the ceasefire in this strip by the Zionist regime; a ceasefire that is only in place when Israel wants to and violates it whenever it wants.
