London strengthens century-long Ukraine partnership.

The Foreign Office announced on Thursday that part of this support will include funding for three major reconstruction projects in Ukraine in the field of urban management. The number of English and Ukrainian schools in the school twinning scheme run by the British Council will also increase, with 30 more schools joining the network.

In the statement, British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper reiterated the claim that “Ukraine’s security is Britain’s security,” adding: “Through our 100-year partnership, we are committed to standing by Ukraine not just today or tomorrow, but for generations to come, deepening our economic, security and cultural ties.”

She claimed: “Vladimir Putin has repeatedly shown that he is prepared to threaten civilian lives and destroy infrastructure, and this support will help Ukraine regain the ability to rebuild its vital capacities.”

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian war began after the West ignored Moscow’s security concerns about NATO expansion, and NATO member states have continued the conflict by abandoning the diplomatic option and providing Kyiv with massive military support.

Meanwhile, Britain has become one of the most active supporters of the conflict since the beginning of the Ukrainian war, and has intensified its role by sending weapons and imposing extensive sanctions on Russia. London has already sanctioned hundreds of Russian individuals and institutions, becoming one of the main drivers of the escalation of tensions in the war.
