Macron: Maybe we will intervene to prevent Russia’s advance.

According to Rashatoudi, French President Emmanuel Macron says that Paris does not intend to intervene in the war in Ukraine directly, but if Russia advances too much, direct French intervention may be necessary.

In a video published on X, Macron said in response to a question about whether France is going to enter the war: “If Russia wins, the European Union will lose all its credibility and security.” Our future and security in Ukraine are on a razor’s edge.

He also said that in addition to delivering military equipment to Kyiv, EU countries “must be ready to take action if Russia advances too much.”

“Therefore, I hope with all my heart that we will not have to go to war,” said the French president. France is a pacifist power, although it must arm itself to preserve peace. If our interests are threatened, intervention is still an option.

He continued: “Sometimes we have to be deterrent towards our enemies and be believable and say that if you threaten our interests and security, then I will not reject intervention.”

Macron’s statements reflect his previous statements about possibly sending troops to Ukraine. In February, he did not rule out the possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine, claiming that if Ukraine fails, the credibility of the European Union will drop to zero.
