Macron unveiled the new French government

PNN – French President Emmanuel Macron announced the new government on Saturday night, 11 weeks after early parliamentary elections.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the AFP news agency, the new French government formed by Prime Minister Michel Barnier has made a significant turn to the right wing.

Barnier is a conservative politician who is known internationally as the leader of the UK’s exit negotiations from the European Union. He was introduced as the new prime minister more than two weeks ago, and the first responsibility of his government is to present the 2025 budget bill.

In the new French government, Jean-Noel Barot has been nominated as Foreign Minister and Bruno Ratieu as Interior Minister, while Sébastien LeCorneau has retained his position as Defense Minister.

Left-wing politicians, who are unhappy with the coming of a right-wing government, have warned that they will challenge the new government.

In July’s daily elections, the left-wing coalition “New Popular Front” won the most seats, but did not have the support of a parliamentary majority to form a government.

Macron had argued that the left wing was unable to garner enough support from lawmakers to form a new government. He then turned to negotiations with Barnier to form a government, which was met with the support of moderates and the conservative “Republicans” party.

Jordan Bardella, one of the leaders of the far-right National Assembly party, condemned Macron’s new cabinet and said that this government is “a return to Macronism” and has “no future.”

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, one of the extreme left politicians, also called the new cabinet “the government of the losers of the national elections”.
