Maduro to America: Save yourself first.
Speaking on Venezuela’s state television (VTV), Nicolas Maduro said in a public address: “The United States aspires to rule the world, but no one cares about the 40 million homeless Americans. No one cares about the millions of Americans who do not have enough food to eat every day. No one cares about the millions of Americans whose children do not have access to education.”
He also referred to the dire situation of more than 35 million American citizens who face drug addiction problems.
The Venezuelan president criticized the United States’ intention to “save the world” with its weapons, and in a firm message stated: “First save yourselves in the United States.”
Reaffirming the sovereignty of the country, he stated that the people of this Latin American country have the ability to determine their own destiny.
Citing a symbolic principle, Maduro emphasized: “As [Abraham] Lincoln (former US President) said; government of the people, by the people, for the people.” He added: “We know and will know what to do with our homeland, Venezuela.”
Maduro also warned about the domestic political scene in Venezuela that the “traitorous far right” is seeking to hand over the country to “demons.”
The Venezuelan president concluded by emphasizing his trust in popular organization and mobilization, calling it the country’s greatest guarantee.
What is the US seeking with Operation Southern Spear in the Caribbean?
In an official statement explaining the US motive for the country’s new military operation, dubbed “Southern Spear,” the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) stated that Washington seeks to “incite acts of violence and create conflict” in the Caribbean.
According to the Efe news agency, the Vice President for International Affairs of the Venezuelan ruling party condemned the “hostile escalation” of the situation by the United States in an official statement and called on parties and movements around the world to join the “international mobilization of public opinion to confront the massive psychological warfare operation hidden in Operation Southern Spear.”
According to the Venezuelan ruling party, the new operation announced by the United States is “not an isolated maneuver,” because the United States “intends to turn Venezuela into a gateway for its new strategy of domination, which is clearly colonial”; the United States “is trying to impose a war in a region of peace today so that tomorrow it can be expanded against any country that opposes its interests.”
The statement reads: “What is its goal? To pollute Latin America and the Caribbean with death, destruction and hatred? To extend to our America the inhumane methods that brutally destroy families and children in the Gaza Strip? To normalize unjustified bombings and targeted assassinations?”
The United Socialist Party of Venezuela called for respect for the country’s sovereignty and “international solidarity” against “the neo-colonialism, fascist and supremacist that has unleashed its deadly fury on the world.”
