Mahmoud Abbas: We are ready to reform the self-governing organization.
The head of the Palestinian Authority said on Tuesday morning that he is ready to reform the organization to prepare it for the administration of the Gaza Strip.
“Mahmoud Abbas”, the head of the Palestinian Authority, said early Tuesday that he is ready to reform this institution so that he can prepare it for the administration of the Gaza Strip.
In an interview with Reuters, Abbas explained: “The problem is not changing (Palestinian) politicians and forming a new government.” The problem is the policies of the Israeli government.
He said that America is responsible for the current crisis in the Gaza Strip, “because it is Israel’s accomplice and does not force them to do what it says.”
According to Reuters, the head of the Palestinian Authority reiterated his several-year request from the United States to support the holding of an international peace conference, similar to the summit in Madrid in 1991, to advance the formation of a Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders.
While opposing the use of violence to advance the cause of Palestine, Abbas said: “I am in favor of peaceful resistance.” “I am in favor of negotiations based on an international peace conference and under international supervision, which will lead to a solution protected by the world powers for the creation of an independent Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.”
While expressing readiness for the self-governing organizations to return to the Gaza government if it is part of a broader two-state plan, he added: “But when we return, we will need resources because a large part of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed in the war.”
