Malaysia seeks to attract Chinese investors

Pak Sahafat – During the one-day visit of Prime Minister of Malaysia Anura Brahim to China, three cooperation agreements were signed between Malaysian and Chinese companies, including in the fields of investment by Chinese companies in Malaysia.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report on Monday, citing the Bernama news site, Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the finance minister of Malaysia, is currently on a business trip to the city of Nanning at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang to participate in the 20th China-ASEAN Expo.

In this one-day business trip, a number of Malaysian ministers including Tengku Zaafar Al Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Nega Kor Ming, Minister of Local Government Development, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Alamin, were present.

According to the announcement of the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office, the first memorandum of understanding, which includes an estimated investment of 15 billion ringgit (5.2 billion US dollars), was signed between China and Malaysia to explore cooperation in the development of waste-to-energy plants.

The second cooperation memorandum worth about 2.34 billion ringgit ($500 million) was signed with the aim of developing warehousing and logistics cooperation in the field of the new international land-sea trade corridor for economic and trade cooperation between Guangxi and Malaysia.

The third cooperation memorandum was also signed with the aim of establishing a trade center and distribution of 500,000 tons of refined palm oil between China and Malaysia.

The official news agency of Malaysia wrote in this report that the process of cooperation between Malaysia and China shows that the Malaysian government has taken the right path for economic development.

China is the largest trading company in Malaysia, and the Malaysian government seeks to further strengthen trade and economic cooperation with China.
