Maldives joins the genocide case against the Zionist regime.
According to Al Jazeera, Maldives announced that it has submitted a request to join the “genocide” case of the Republic of South Africa against the Zionist regime to the International Court of Justice.
This news was announced in a statement released by the President of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizou, on the “X” platform on Tuesday.
He said that his country has requested to join the lawsuit that the Republic of South Africa submitted to the International Court of Justice against the Zionist regime at the end of December 2023, to implement the United Nations Convention for the Prevention of Genocide adopted in 1948.
Muizo pointed out that this request is based on Article 63 of the Statute of the Court, which allows countries to join the lawsuit to express their opinion on the interpretation of the disputed agreement and stresses the need to hold the Zionist regime responsible for its illegal actions in Gaza.
He said: “The rule of law must be ensured and Israel must end the genocide against the Palestinian people.”
The President of Maldives also announced his country’s support for the Palestinian people and added: that Palestine and its capital East Jerusalem should be recognized and this country should be established based on the pre-1967 borders.
It is worth noting that previously, Nicaragua, Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Palestine, Spain and Turkey have joined the case of genocide in Gaza.
