Mearsheimer: Iran had the upper hand in the 12-Day War; the situation has not changed today

12-Day War

PNN – The American analyst stated that Iran was in a position of power during the 12-day war, and said that it was the Zionist regime that, fearing defeat, pressured Washington to mediate a ceasefire.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, John Mearsheimer, a distinguished professor at the University of Chicago, said: In the 12-day war, the Israelis were really struggling because Iran was firing ballistic missiles at them that they couldn’t intercept. Every day, things were getting worse for the Israelis.

This American university professor said in an interview with Russia Today: After 12 days, it was Israel that pressured Trump to end the war, not Iran! Many even criticized Iran for accepting the ceasefire, as it seemed that the balance of power had shifted in Iran’s favor and Tehran had the upper hand.

He continued by stating that the situation has not changed today: Iran has a large arsenal of ballistic missiles that can inflict significant damage on Israel, so Tel Aviv wants to stay out of the conflict and let the United States do the heavy lifting instead.

Mearsheimer went on to point out Tehran’s position, which has stated that even if the United States attacks Iran alone, Iran’s response will still include the Zionist regime. He said that US President Donald Trump intended to attack Iran on January 14, but it was the Zionist regime that dissuaded Trump from attacking, fearing Iran’s response.
