Mercenaries transformation from criminals to police: A civil war prescription for Gaza

Mercenaries

PNN – Behind the slogans of reconstruction and peace in Gaza, an intricate network of secret plans is taking shape to employ militias and mercenaries in the security apparatus. This could pave the way for civil war and chaos that threatens Gaza’s future.

On the sidelines of the plans announced by the group known as the “Peace Council” regarding the future of Gaza, scenarios are being drawn that are far darker than anything that can be expected for the coming years. The cornerstone of these scenarios is the use of criminal groups, gangs, and mercenaries operating in areas occupied by the Israeli army in Gaza.

The British newspaper The Daily Telegraph revealed in a report that the United States intends to use criminal groups and gangs to form the Gaza police. This is while the “Gaza Administration Committee” officially announced yesterday that the recruitment process for the new police force has begun; Arab and international circles have also rejected the plan to use notorious mercenaries – in any form or manner – in Gaza in the future. The Hebrew newspaper “Yisrael Hayom” also reported on the plan of the occupying regime’s security chiefs to stop financial support for these groups. The Daily Telegraph newspaper noted in the aforementioned report that the occupying regime and the United States are in agreement on integrating mercenaries into the future security forces.

The report states that the plan to employ the aforementioned mercenaries and militias within the framework of the peacekeeping forces – which are supported by the United States – has been opposed by some high-ranking American leaders, especially since this group of militias has been directly involved in years of organized crimes and therefore has no acceptance among the citizens of Gaza. These individuals have been accused of crimes such as looting trucks carrying humanitarian aid, committing crimes such as murder and kidnapping, and working closely with the Israeli army. The newspaper noted that the plan to use these groups – which enjoy the support of the Zionist regime – was raised before the New Year celebrations and at the same time caused a lot of controversy in the new multinational civil and military “coordination center” in southern Israel.

Of course, although the Israeli and American regimes’ investment in these groups as a police force cannot be used, it could provide an alternative plan for using them to control security and monitor construction areas in Rafah. According to informed sources, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and Aryeh Lightstone, CEO of the Abraham Accords Institute, are closely monitoring the implementation of this plan. Lightstone is said to agree with the Zionist regime’s security thinking in this region. He opposes the creation of a Palestinian state and coordinates most aspects of the informal planning process for Gaza’s future from a beachside hotel in Tel Aviv, including discussions with billionaire investors.

Western officials are skeptical about the feasibility of this approach. One official told the Daily Telegraph: It seems that Kushner and Lightstone and their friends believe that if they give the Palestinians a chance to escape Hamas, they will certainly welcome the opportunity. While the reality is that Gaza citizens are far more disgusted by armed family members and consider them criminals.

But where did these mercenaries come from? It is said that attributing this gang of mercenaries to Gazan families is a great injustice to Gazan society. In fact, all large and small families in Gaza have issued statements expressing their disgust with all mercenaries, and even many families that are known to have mercenary elements, such as Abu Shabab, Al-Dahini, Jundiya, Hals, Al-Mansi, and Al-Astal, have disavowed their members who have been identified as mercenaries.

The strange thing is that some of the leaders of the mercenary groups, such as Ghassan al-Dahini and Essam al-Nabahin, have previously been imprisoned for holding extremist views and collaborating with ISIS. They have been repeatedly convicted of crimes such as attacking police stations and creating insecurity, and are often ostracized by society. These individuals believe that once the war stops, they will be retried and returned to prison, so they openly continue on the path of treason.
