Microsoft employees protest the company’s support for the Zionist regime

PNN – As the 50th anniversary of the founding of the American multinational technology company Microsoft was being celebrated, a group of employees of the company disrupted the ceremony and held a rally in protest of the company’s support for the Zionist regime.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, from Al Jazeera TV channel, Pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted the 50th anniversary of the American technology company’s founding following reports that Israel used Microsoft’s artificial intelligence models to improve the accuracy of its bombing in Gaza.

Al Jazeera considers this incident the latest negative reaction from Palestinian supporters to the tech company’s support for Israel.

The protest began as Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman was giving an update and long-term outlook when company employee Ibtihal Abulsaad shouted, “Mustafa, shame on you,” as he walked up to the stage, interrupting Suleiman’s speech.

The employee shouted: You claim to care about the use of AI, but you are selling AI-based weapons to the Israeli military. Fifty thousand people have been killed and Microsoft is fueling this genocide in our region.

The Associated Press reported earlier this year that artificial intelligence models from Microsoft and OpenAI were used as part of an Israeli military program to select targets during its bombing of Gaza and Lebanon.

Vanya Agrawal was another protester at the event, protesting support for Israel while several senior Microsoft officials, including Satya Nadella, the current CEO of the technology company, were on stage.

Al Jazeera noted that five Microsoft employees were fired from a meeting with Nadella in February for protesting the company’s contract with Israel.

But at the same time as a group of Microsoft employees protested outside the complex, yesterday’s event was the first public protest by employees of the technology company against support for Israel amid the crimes in Gaza.

The Zionist regime launched a devastating war against the Gaza Strip, which has left more than 50,000 martyrs and tens of thousands injured. This war has not only caused widespread destruction of the region’s infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and water and electricity supply networks, but has also led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, severe food shortages, and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
