Microsoft supports the Israeli army in the Gaza war.
New documents obtained by the British newspaper The Guardian show that Microsoft has been actively involved in supporting the Israeli military operations in Gaza since the October 7, 2023 attack.
The documents reveal Microsoft’s cooperation with the Israeli regime in various areas, including the use of advanced cloud technologies and artificial intelligence. These technologies helped the army manage huge volumes of data in combat conditions and conduct fast and accurate analyses.
One of the important components of this cooperation was the army’s use of the Azure cloud platform provided by Microsoft. This platform is not only used for data storage and information management at the enterprise level but also has played a prominent role in artificial intelligence analyses. By providing these technologies to the army, Microsoft enabled data analysis and identification of military targets in real-time.
These partnerships were mostly used in various branches of the military, including the Air Force, Navy, and the intelligence branch of the military institution. This shows that the technical cooperation between Microsoft and the military is not limited to administrative and management sectors, but is also widely used in sensitive and operational areas. The documents show that in addition to using the Azure platform, Microsoft has also been involved in sensitive intelligence projects, including cooperation with Unit 8200.
In particular, Microsoft provided the military with the GPT-4 artificial intelligence model, which it had recently made available from OpenAI. This artificial intelligence model helped the military quickly analyze information collected from various sources, such as intercepted communications, satellite imagery, and other intelligence sources, and identify potential military targets. These systems were able to quickly simulate and analyze huge amounts of data, but concerns have also been raised about the accuracy of these systems, particularly whether they can fully replace human analysis.
