PNN – Russian media reported that since 2014, the United States and Western countries have imposed more than 31,000 sanctions on Russia under the pretext of the war in Ukraine.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, RIA Novosti reported that, based on various sources and data from the independent analytical website “Kastlom,” the total number of sanctions imposed on Russia since 2014 has reached about 31,000, with the highest number imposed by the United States, Canada, and Switzerland.

In this context, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said yesterday in response to London’s new sanctions against Moscow, quoted by RIA Novosti: “We do not recognize illegal sanctions imposed by bypassing the UN Security Council, and Moscow reserves the right to take retaliatory measures.”
Kaja Kallas, European Union foreign policy chief, said on Thursday evening at the OSCE Council of Ministers: “The nineteenth package of EU sanctions against Russia has been approved, and work on the next package continues.”
These developments come while the Kyiv Post, quoting an unnamed European diplomat, acknowledged that there is tangible concern among Europeans about the U.S. moving toward Russia’s position regarding the Ukraine conflict.
The diplomat expressed concern that such negotiations between Moscow and the United States could marginalize NATO and the European Union.
Russia has repeatedly emphasized that it will counter sanctions pressure and has accused the West of “lacking the courage” to accept the failure of its sanctions policy.
