PNN – The US President blamed Democrats for his decision to fire thousands of government employees following the federal government shutdown!
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Reuters, US President Donald Trump, who has made good on his threat to cut federal workforces during the government shutdown, says Democrats are to blame for his decision.
According to spokespeople, layoffs have begun at the Treasury Department, the Health Department, the Internal Revenue Service, and the deputy ministries of Education, Commerce, and the Department of Homeland Security’s cyber-security unit, but the exact scope of these layoffs is not yet clear. About 300,000 federal civilian employees were previously scheduled to leave their jobs this year due to the government downsizing campaign launched by Trump earlier this year.

Trump told reporters at an Oval Office event that “they started this” and called the cuts “Democrat-driven.” Trump’s Republicans hold majorities in both houses of Congress, but they need Democratic votes in the Senate to pass any bill to fund the government. Democrats are calling for an extension of health insurance subsidies, arguing that medical costs would skyrocket for the 24 million Americans covered by the Affordable Care Act.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to fire federal employees during the partisan impasse and government shutdown, which entered its tenth day yesterday, and has said his administration will target major parts of the government that are supported by Democrats.
The US president has also ordered a halt to at least $28 billion in infrastructure funding for New York, California and Illinois, states that are home to significant populations of Democratic voters and critics of his administration.
The Justice Department said in court filings that more than 4,200 federal employees at seven agencies have received termination notices, including more than 1,400 at the Treasury Department and at least 1,110 at the Department of Health and Human Services.
