Moroccans demonstrate for Palestine and against normalizing relations with Israel.

According to the Al-Quds Al-Arabi news agency, the demonstration was held in Tangier in northern Morocco in solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and in response to a call by the National Action Group for Palestine (a non-governmental organization).

The demonstration was held under the slogan “The Moroccan people are with the resistance and against the normalization of relations… defending the homeland and supporting Palestine,” and coincided with the fifth anniversary of the signing of the agreement normalizing relations between Morocco and the Israeli regime in December 2020.

Protesters marched through the main streets of Tangier, chanting slogans in support of civilians in the Gaza Strip and holding the Israeli regime accountable for its policy of starvation against the people of Gaza.

“The people want an end to the normalization of relations and the freedom of Palestine,” and “Free people everywhere are against Zionism and America,” were among the slogans chanted by participants during the march.

In December 2020, Morocco and the Israeli regime resumed diplomatic relations with the mediation of the United States, which was met with opposition from various sections of the population and political forces in the country. After the resumption of diplomatic relations, high-ranking Israeli officials visited the Moroccan capital, Rabat, which had been suspended with the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
