Morocco’s tourism revenue set a new record.

According to Morocco, it announced on Monday that the country’s income from the tourism sector in 2023 will exceed 10.5 billion dollars for the first time in the country’s history.

The Ministry of Tourism of Morocco announced in a statement: After recording the record number of tourists in 2023 with 14.5 million tourists, the tourism income from currency exchange in this area reached 105 billion dirhams (10.5 billion dollars).

This amount of tourism revenue has grown by 12% compared to 2022, which was 91.3 billion dirhams ($9.3 billion).

In this statement, quoting Fatima Zahra Amor, the Minister of Tourism of Morocco, it is stated: Achieving this number confirms the position of the tourism sector as one of the largest sources of foreign currency in the country.

Amor added: “This achievement is within the framework of the roadmap’s goal to achieve an income of 120 billion dirhams (12 billion dollars) by 2026.

Morocco says it aims to attract 26 million tourists a year by 2030 as part of its plan to revive the tourism sector.

Tourism is the second largest source of foreign exchange in Morocco, according to data from the Moroccan Bureau of Exchange.
