PNN – The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri stated that Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement several times and this cannot be tolerated, he said that contacts have been made with the relevant parties to prevent Zionist aggression and the case of electing the president will be resolved soon.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, announced during a speech about the developments after the ceasefire agreement: The number of violations of the ceasefire agreement by Israel has exceeded 52, which means a clear violation of the agreement and cannot be allowed to continue.
Nabih Berri emphasized: Contacts have been made with relevant international institutions to deal with these Israeli aggressions and violations of the ceasefire agreement, and we hope that the completion of the ceasefire monitoring committee after France joins it will lead to the strict implementation of the agreement.
In a conversation with Al-Jhumorieh newspaper, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament said: This is not the first time I was in charge of negotiating a ceasefire and I had a similar experience in 2006. But the only big difference between that period and the present time is that in 2006, a big and main pillar, namely, Martyr Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, was by my side, but he is not now and I miss him very much.

Regarding the case of electing the president in Lebanon after the ceasefire, Nabih Berri said that I hope the January 9 meeting will lead to the election of the president. On my own initiative, I set this date for the presidential election meeting, and I have already said that as soon as the ceasefire is reached, I will set a date for this meeting. The issue of electing the president and the date I set for the meeting was not coordinated with any foreign party, and even Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French envoy, was not informed of my decision before traveling to Beirut.
He added that I have informed the members of the five-party committee (Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, France and the United States) that I hope they will help us achieve what we want, not what they want. The new president of Lebanon is chosen by the Lebanese themselves, and no matter how much foreign intervention there is in this field, the Lebanese themselves still choose the president.
Nabih Berri said about the nature of Amal and Hezbollah’s approach to the future president and his characteristics: In our opinion, the future president of Lebanon should not necessarily be close to Hezbollah and the Amal movement, but it is important that he not be hostile to these movements and also to any other component in Lebanon.
Regarding whether he still supports Suleiman Farnjieh, the head of Al-Murda movement and the candidate proposed by Hezbollah, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament said: It is clear that I support him and there is no obstacle to agreeing on his election. Especially, Suleiman Faranjieh has never presented himself as a challenging candidate.
In the end, about the formation of the Lebanese government after a long period of running the country with the interim government, Nabih bari stated that the formation of the new government is possible one month after the election of the president.
