PNN – The “National Interest” website, in a report referring to Iran’s capabilities in the field of manufacturing cruise and anti-ship ballistic missiles and their threat against American aircraft carriers, discussed the latest achievement of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army and wrote that among other weapons, the Hadid 110 UAV allows Iran to seriously threaten American aircraft carriers.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the National Interest article states: There are a handful of advanced anti-ship weapon systems in Iran that can instantly prevent American forces from passing through the important Strait of Hormuz.
In this report, referring to the 400 km range of the Persian Gulf anti-ship ballistic missile, it is claimed that the speed of this weapon is less than Mach 3, and this low speed and short range make it easier for ships accompanying the American aircraft carrier to intercept it.
Referring to the recent clashes between the US and the Yemeni armed forces in the waters of the region, National Interest wrote: However, the US Navy has struggled to protect itself against the much simpler anti-ship missiles of the Houthis.
Enumerating the capabilities of “Persian Gulf”, National Interest wrote: An electro-optical/infrared seeker guides this missile and its 800 kg warhead towards the target. It is possible that this weapon will be used against US Navy warships in the waters of the Persian Gulf or the Strait of Hormuz.
Both areas are narrow and make it difficult for warships to maneuver. In addition, the Iranians can saturate the defense systems of the aircraft carrier group and cause great damage to the American aircraft carrier.
The “Persian Gulf” missile is complemented by several other systems such as the Somar and Hoyza cruise missiles. The first range is 2 thousand kilometers and the second one is about 1,250 kilometers. Hoizeh has a shorter range than Somar, but it is more accurate.
Meanwhile, the Iranian army recently unveiled the world’s first subsurface suicide drone (Hadid 110). This weapon can be guided to the target by artificial intelligence, and the ability to launch it from under the sea is one of its key capabilities, providing the element of surprise to the Iranians and making it very difficult to intercept.
While expressing concern over the use of this drone in the crowded Persian Gulf and its simultaneous launch of missiles by the Houthis at other sea bottlenecks, National Interest wrote: All these developments mean that Iran has the potential to seriously threaten the US aircraft carrier group with the various anti-ship systems it has.
