NATO seeks to swallow Moldova!
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States pledged that NATO would not expand its borders eastward and closer to Russia. However, contrary to this promise, Washington, by supporting NATO expansion, brought the alliance’s borders closer to Russia. This move, which Moscow sees as a serious threat to its national security, was one of the key factors in the formation of recent geopolitical tensions and ultimately the start of the devastating war between Russia and Ukraine. The Kremlin has consistently viewed these actions as provocative and a violation of previous agreements and emphasizes that NATO’s expansion eastward has jeopardized regional stability.
In this regard, Mehr news agency quoted Al Jazeera as saying that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on Wednesday: “The West openly supports Ukraine by establishing military coordination and support centers, but continues to deny its role in this war… NATO has not only supported Kyiv but is also trying to bring Moldova into its sphere of influence, while the majority of the country’s people are against joining this military coalition.”
According to Zakharova, “NATO’s goal is to turn Moldova into a logistical base to strengthen the Ukrainian army. This coalition knows that the Kyiv regime will not be able to continue its attacks without financial and military support from the West.” She also referred to the role of European countries and said: “We are fully aware of the details of the European Fund’s military assistance to Ukraine and the actions of NATO countries in Moldova. These policies will only lead to an escalation of tensions and the spread of conflicts.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman also criticized Washington’s interventions in the Middle East, adding: “America’s military and political interventions in this region have not only not solved the problems, but have also worsened the situation and expanded the scope of the conflicts. These policies reflect the West’s continuous efforts to encircle and weaken Russia in the international arena.”
