Need for 185 million dollars to prevent the death of children in Afghanistan.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Secretary General of the World Health Organization, announced that the organization needs 185 million dollars to continue providing medicine and support Afghanistan’s medical centers and prevent the death of children and women due to malnutrition and food insecurity.
He wrote on X social network: 13 million people in Afghanistan, which is about 30% of the total population of the country, are facing severe food insecurity.
Kyprisos said nearly one million children are severely malnourished and 2.3 million children suffer from moderate malnutrition.
The Secretary General of the World Health Organization said that with a weak immune system and facing a harsh winter, the risk of death from infectious diseases is higher.
