Netanyahu’s crackdown on “Druzes” ahead of elections.
The Likud party’s legal committee, led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is considering adding 100 new members to the party’s central committee from the Druze tribe as part of an effort to influence the Druze community in occupied Palestine and increase its vote share.
The issue, which is being discussed today under the title of Likud’s interests, comes amid the Zionist regime’s support for the Druze tribe in Syria, which it appears has asked the Druze community in occupied Palestine to support the Likud party in return for support.
According to Likud sources, thousands of members of the Druze community have joined the party after recent events in Syria, especially after Israel provided military and support assistance to the Druze of Sweida province. Meanwhile, the Zionist regime has also claimed that Syrian Druze leaders want to annex this region to occupied Palestine.
The issue of increasing Likud party members from among the Druze comes at a time when Zionist sources have announced that the party primaries for the 2026 prime minister elections will be held in November.
A senior Likud official claimed that the Likud has received thousands of forms from Druze to join the party, which must be reviewed. He emphasized that this is especially important on the eve of the Arab list primaries.
Some Likud members added that over the past decade, after the implementation of the “nation-state” law, the number of Druze representatives in the Likud Central Committee has decreased sharply, from 113 to about 31.
But this time, Likud, to win the upcoming elections, is trying to use the Israeli Druze to increase its vote share and maintain its political power under the pretext of “historical reform of the party structure and strengthening the alliance with the Druze community.”
According to Ma’ariv, various ministers from this party, including Miki Zohar, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sports, Gila Gimel, Minister of Science and Technology, Miri Rego, Minister of Transportation, Chaim Katz, Minister of Tourism, and Nir Barakat, Minister of Economy of the Zionist regime, have supported the Druze joining Likud.
