Netanyahu’s defense is turning into a scandal

Netanyahu's defense

PNN – The Hebrew media wrote: Netanyahu’s defense of shrugging off the consequences of the October 7 defeat will become a disgrace for him.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Benjamin Netanyahu has left for the United States to meet with Donald Trump at a time when the scandal of his evasion of responsibility for the October 7 failure (Operation Al-Aqsa Storm) is taking on wider dimensions day by day, and Israeli media and figures are reacting negatively to this defense, which has become known as Netanyahu’s protocols.

Haaretz newspaper wrote in its Tuesday issue: For two years and four months, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has tried to exonerate himself from any connection to the great failure of October 7 and the actions and decisions that preceded it, but the document he released this week has become a full-blown scandal.

In this regard, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has criticized Netanyahu in strong statements, describing him as a weak and helpless person who is controlled by others.

In this regard, he emphasized that the excuses and justifications he provided regarding the period before the October 7 defeat could be evidence for this claim.

This is while Israeli security, political, and military officials have emphasized that the October 7 attack (Operation Al-Aqsa Storm) is a clear and transparent major security, intelligence, military, and political defeat for Israel.

On the other hand, Israel’s Channel 12 television, citing Netanyahu’s justifications for shrugging off responsibility for the failure, reported that the quotes Netanyahu provided as part of his official response provoked intense anger from senior security officials, who viewed them as a deliberate attempt to divert the discussions from their proper context.

According to the report, senior security officials said that Netanyahu is causing “irreparable and long-term damage” to the relationship between the political class and the senior professional levels in the security establishment.

They believe that his practice of delivering short and long reports without reference to the broader framework of policies being pursued is leading to a loss of trust between the two sides.

In another report, the Haaretz newspaper addressed this scandal from a different perspective, reporting that at the height of the war and the need for military forces, Benjamin Netanyahu had assigned a significant number of reservists to prepare and compile this defense.

According to information obtained by Haaretz, reservists from the Military Intelligence Directorate were employed during the war to work in the Prime Minister’s Office in collecting transcripts of negotiations related to the October 7 operation and the events leading up to it.

These soldiers were recruited by the Military Secretariat in Benjamin Netanyahu’s office in May and June 2024, when Roman Goffman served as his military secretary.

These reservists spent several weeks searching and sorting the texts, at the request of Goffman, who was acting on the prime minister’s instructions.
