Netanyahu’s support for the Security Council resolution is his appeasement of Trump.
According to the Israeli Channel 14 news channel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office welcomed the UN resolution to establish an international force in Gaza based on US President Donald Trump’s peace plan on Tuesday (Tuesday) on its X-Channel (formerly Twitter) account, saying that this move would lead to the expansion of the Abraham Accords between countries.
Netanyahu’s office stressed that the plan would help advance peace in the region, normalize relations, and build a lasting alliance with Arab countries under Trump’s leadership.
The statement also called for the complete disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza, calling it a prerequisite for establishing an international force in the Strip.
However, Channel 14 criticized Netanyahu and wrote that the prime minister seems to be oblivious to the dangerous consequences of the plan and Israel’s retreat from its position, which was opposed to the draft until yesterday.
The channel added: According to the text of the resolution, if the Palestinian authorities make reforms in their organizational structure, this will lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
This is while Netanyahu’s cabinet coalition, in response to the draft, which was amended at the request of Arab countries to support the establishment of a Palestinian state, strongly criticized and demanded that Trump adjust his position on this matter. According to them, the vote in the Security Council was held with Netanyahu’s consent and knowledge, and he bypassed the coalition by doing so.
This is while the Israeli 12 News Channel reported that Netanyahu did not accept the UN Security Council resolution on the international force in Gaza for various reasons, including the existence of a clause in the resolution for the establishment of a Palestinian state in the future.
However, political analysts interpreted Netanyahu’s positive reaction to the Security Council resolution differently.
Emphasizing that Netanyahu’s statement hides an obvious truth, they said: “With this statement, beyond appeasing Trump and avoiding provoking his anger, he tried to present the Security Council resolution as an important strategic and historic achievement for the Likud party and to consolidate his support base for the upcoming elections.”
According to them, Netanyahu is trying to focus on clauses that are in line with the interests of the Zionist regime.
According to IRNA, the UN Security Council approved the US-proposed resolution based on the so-called Trump peace plan for the future of Gaza on Monday night local time.
The US-proposed resolution was adopted with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions. The resolution contains a clause that outlines a possible future path for the creation of a Palestinian state.
According to this resolution, the Peace Council and the Stabilization Force in Gaza will be authorized to operate, as stated in the “US Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.”
According to the resolution, member states can participate in the “Peace Council” known as the Transitional Authority, an institution that will be responsible for overseeing the reconstruction and economic recovery of Gaza.
The resolution also emphasized the formation of an international stabilization force in Gaza, a force whose mission would be to disarm Gaza and destroy military infrastructure.
Meanwhile, after the resolution was passed, the Hamas movement issued a statement expressing its opposition to the resolution, calling it a form of international guardianship over Gaza.
