The new communication channel between Türkiye and Israel is to prevent tension in Syria.
According to the Israeli I24 News, the Middle East Eye news agency, citing two sources who were aware of the matter, announced that Turkey and Israel have established a direct communication channel on developments in Syria to quickly prevent any possible military conflict.
According to the Middle East Eye report, “The establishment of this communication line followed talks that were held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in April.”
The English news agency wrote: At the same time, talks between Ankara and Tel Aviv are continuing in Baku to establish a preventive mechanism to prevent conflict.
Another round of these talks will be held later this month to reach a more comprehensive agreement to prevent tension in Syria.
According to the report, sources in the Turkish Ministry of Defense have announced that there is currently no matter to officially announce. Turkish officials have also repeatedly stressed that they will not allow Syria to become a zone of influence for parties such as Israel to target different areas at will.
According to the sources, the current talks are focused on finding ways to alleviate the concerns of both sides.
A source familiar with the matter told Middle East Eye that the Israeli regime is ready to agree to the deployment of Turkish ground forces, including tanks and infantry, in Syria.
However, the location of Turkish air defense systems and radars, which are capable of monitoring Israeli air activities, is of great importance.
The source, who asked not to be named, added that the talks are progressing positively and the focus of the talks is on the so-called “Palm Line” [in central Syria].
