PNN – The new French Prime Minister also resigned after less than a month in office.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Sky News, the new French Prime Minister, Sébastien Le Corneaux, resigned from his post today after less than a month in the post.
According to the Elysee Palace, French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted his resignation.
Le Corneaux’s resignation came just hours after forming his cabinet, amid threats by his political rivals to topple his government.
He announced yesterday that he had appointed his ministers and the new cabinet was scheduled to hold its first meeting this evening.
But the cabinet composition drew the ire of allies and political opponents, with some calling it too right-wing and others not right-wing enough.
Le Cornouaille, 39, was the seventh prime minister appointed by the French president and the fifth in the past two years. Macron appointed Le Cornouaille as the new prime minister on September 9.
His sudden resignation sent French stocks and the euro plummeting. Le Corneaux now tops the list of the shortest-serving prime ministers in France since 1958!
