PNN – The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Thursday that it has placed two Central African Republic companies linked to Russia’s Wagner Group on its sanctions list.
According to Pakistan News Network’s report from “Anatoli”, the statement of the US Treasury Department states that these two companies, under the names of Saarlo Mining Industries and Saarlo Economic Logistics, operate in the field of mining and help the Wagner Group’s illegal mining activities and its security operations in the Central African Republic.
The US Treasury Department added that Wagner Group uses aircraft leased by Sarlo Mining Industries to move personnel and equipment in the Central African Republic and other parts of Africa. While the company imports chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sodium cyanide, which are commonly used in mining, to promote illegal mining associated with the Wagner Group.

Following the events that led to the rebellion of the Wagner group, the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, with the agreement of his Russian counterpart, entered into dialogue and negotiation with the head of the Wagner militia group and persuaded him to stop the advance of his forces towards Moscow and they returned to their headquarters.
According to the agreement, the head of the Wagner Group was supposed to go to Belarus after being exiled from Russia in June, and a few days later, the President of Belarus approved Prigozhin’s entry into the territory of Belarus.
Last year, a private plane carrying 10 passengers, including Wagner’s former boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, crashed on its way from St. Petersburg to Moscow, killing all on board.
