New York prosecutor: If Trump does not pay his fine, we will confiscate his property.
New York Attorney General Letita James announced that if Donald Trump cannot pay a $355 million fine in his fraud case, she will seize his assets, including his skyscrapers.
In an interview with ABC, he said: “If he does not have enough financial ability to pay this fine, we will use the enforcement mechanisms of judgment in the court and ask the judge to confiscate his assets.”
Last week, Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate for the 2024 election, was sentenced to pay a fine of about 355 million dollars and a 3-year ban on doing business in New York in the case of fraud and corruption.
Based on this, after several court hearings over 3 months, Judge Arthur Ngoron sentenced Trump to pay a fine of 354,900,000 dollars and a 3-year ban on managing any business in New York City.
Donald Trump, his two eldest sons and several employees of their family organization were accused of defrauding and overstating the value of Trump’s assets and properties to get better loans and favorable insurance terms over a decade.
The judge also banned Trump and his real estate companies named in the indictment from applying for loans to any financial institution in New York for three years.
Trump’s two sons, Jr. and Eric, who were also accused in this case, were sentenced to pay a fine of 4 million dollars each.
The Trump fraud case was filed in September 2022 by New York Attorney General Letitia James against Trump, his eldest sons, their companies, and several executives.
New York prosecutors accused them of falsely declaring the value of their family company’s assets between $2.23 billion and $3.6 billion higher than their true value to get bank loans on better terms.
